FS volunteers come out for the 2024 MLK Day of Service

PHILADELPHIA — January 15, 2024 — This January, the FS Foundation sponsored the Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service at Girard College for the third consecutive year. Michael Forman and other senior FS leaders joined 18 colleagues and family members to participate in this volunteer event. This year’s event honored the 60th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
FS volunteers partnered with various local organizations to assist with several activities. One group partnered with We Love Philly, an organization dedicated to providing holistic, transformative education to underserved youth. Volunteers created and distributed care packages and participated in a “moment of peace,” facilitated by the One Art Community Center. Another group of volunteers partnered with Glad Dogs Nation, a repurposed pet toy company that advocates for animal welfare, to repurpose gently used stuffed animals to be given to pets in shelters.
The Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service is regarded as the largest in the country and has drawn over a million volunteers over the past 28 years. As the FS Foundation’s first service opportunity of 2024, the event was an inspiring opportunity to reflect on the firm’s commitment to civic engagement and community impact.
